The complete guide

CBSE Class 6 to 11 test series: a class-by-class guide

Every CBSE class from 6 to 11 asks something slightly different of a student, so a test series is only useful if it fits the year. This guide walks through what each class involves, which subjects are covered and how to use chapter tests alongside school, with links to each class page.

Subjects covered

  • Class 6, 7, 8 and 9: English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Science and Social Science.
  • Class 11: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English, Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies and Physical Education. Class 11 is subject-wise, with no fixed streams, so you choose exactly the subjects you study.

Each subject has one test for every chapter and two full-syllabus mock tests on the latest syllabus. Papers are written at home, uploaded and checked step-wise by subject experts within 48 hours.

Class 6 and 7: getting used to the new NCERT books

The NCERT books for these classes are recent, and they ask for more explanation than older textbooks did. Maths is taught from Ganita Prakash, and in Class 7 that book comes in two parts. Science is taught from Curiosity and Social Science from Exploring Society: India and Beyond. You can see the books on the NCERT textbook website.

At this age, a chapter test teaches a child to answer in full sentences and to show working. That is worth more than the marks. See the CBSE Class 6 and CBSE Class 7 test series.

Class 8: closing gaps before secondary school

Class 8 also uses the newer NCERT books, and Ganita Prakash for Class 8 again comes in two parts. It is the last year before the Class 9 syllabus grows much larger, so it is the right time to find weak areas in algebra, fractions and ratios, and in written Science answers. Start with the CBSE Class 8 test series.

Class 9: the year that sets up the boards

The Class 10 board syllabus builds on Class 9, so a chapter left weak this year tends to cost marks again in the board year. According to Careers360's report of CBSE's revised curriculum (April 2026), Class 9 Maths and Science now have two levels, a standard paper for everyone and an optional advanced paper. Schools will share the final scheme. Either way, step-wise checked practice prepares a student for both. See the CBSE Class 9 test series.

Class 11: the biggest jump in school

Physics and Mathematics move to derivations and multi-step problems, Chemistry adds a lot of new theory, and Accountancy starts as a full subject for commerce students. Class 12 builds on Class 11, and entrance exams such as JEE and NEET draw on both years. A subject-wise test series lets a student practise only the subjects they take. See the CBSE Class 11 test series.

Using chapter tests alongside school

  • Write a chapter test soon after the school finishes that chapter, while the topic is fresh.
  • Read the remarks before the next test, and redo the answers that lost the most marks.
  • Keep the two full-syllabus mocks for the weeks before the annual exams.
  • Ask a doubt on any remark you do not understand. Doubts are answered by faculty.

Tests start from 20 October 2026, and the plans run until 1 April 2027. The Test Series plan covers the chapter tests and mocks. The Mentorship Program adds daily targets and a study schedule, and the Full Syllabus Mock Tests plan gives only the mocks.

Try before you choose

Write one paper on the free school test page, or look through the school sample papers. Students on the ICSE board can use the ICSE and ISC test series instead.
