Frequently Asked Questions
Maharashtra Board Test Series and Mentorship for SSC and HSC students
Understanding the Challenge of Board Exams
Thousands of students appear for the Class 10 and Class 12 Maharashtra Board exams each year, which are a big event in every student's school career. It’s the first time that many students have taken a noteworthy public examination, with schools, parents, and future goals.
Busy students do not benefit from their traditional methods of studying. All students need perfect practice and perfect feedback to appear for the public exam of the board confidently. Board exam aspirants need to face a real exam-like environment before facing the actual exam.
In this situation, it is not enough to just study regularly. They need these tests for practice, to understand the depth of the exam pattern deeply, cope with the time management process, and, more than that, to learn from their mistakes.
Every topper will tell you in one voice that it was their mistakes that helped them learn.
SSC Test Series for Class 10 Students
The SSC Test Series is largely aimed at students in Class 10. This is the level where students take their first big step into the world of Board examinations. Here, they need to get the hang of:
- Exam pattern and time limits
- Writing answers completely and clearly
- What the examiner expects
- Handling pressure during 3 hours
Students often know the answers but don’t get full marks because of presentation issues or slow writing speed. To address this problem, you need regular tests. By the end of writing 8-10 practice papers before the real exam, they start believing. They get more confident and also start preparing the paper “smartly” – what to do first, how to manage time, how to avoid silly mistakes.
HSC Test Series for Class 12 Students
The HSC Test Series is planned for students who are appearing for the Maharashtra Board HSC exams in Class 12. These exams are crucial as the results play an important factor in the future of college admissions and career choice.
The Series for Class 12 students is more advanced in nature. Basic Features of HSC Test Series are:
- Subject-specific questions for all streams (Art, Commerce, Science)
- Model papers as per the latest syllabus and question format
- Practice in long and short answers
- For theory-based subjects, answer writing templates
- Numericals and application-based questions support
For Science stream students, some HSC Test Series will also have very basic NEET or JEE-style questions. This way, the student can have some experience of competitive exams after giving the board as well.
Mentorship: The Key Advantage
One of the major benefits of a good test series is mentorship. A good test series with mentor-based solutions gives the students personalised feedback from the experts.
Post completion of each test, the student is guided by expert teachers on:
- Which topics to improve/revise?
- Where did I lose marks and why?
- How to start thinking about writing answers?
- What is my common repetitive mistake in every paper?
This way, one-on-one guidance leads students faster, and they will always have their mentor who is kind of like a coach, supporting them, motivating them, boosting their morale, and also helping in building the exam temperament.
Just to illustrate this point, Rohan from Nagpur, who was earlier an average student in 10th and used to score around 60-65% in school tests. After joining our SSC Test Series, and writing one paper every week with one-on-one feedback given by all mentors, the mentor saw that he left 10-15 marks in every paper because of time issues.
With the guidance and constant practice, Rohan started managing his time more judiciously. He scored 84% in the final SSC examination, and Rohan himself attributes this change to the test series where he realised his mistake ear
Online or Offline: What Works Best?
Students can take tests in exam centres or write them while sitting at home. Although online tests are more convenient for regular practice, many experts believe offline test centres are closer to the real exam environmen
Offline Test Centres have it set up in such a way that you sit among other people, maintain the timing, strictness, and regular distractions. All of these help in getting mentally prepared for the exam. Some also have a mix of both of these, where one will write the test offline and upload photos of their answer sheet to get reviewed by the mentors online.
When Should You Start?
Starting the test series preparation early, i.e., around 4 to 6 months before the board exam, is an ideal time. This way there is enough time for:
- Practice and revision
- Feedback and improvement
- Attempting full-length papers as much as possible
- Reducing fear of exams
Over the years, we have seen multiple students who join test series just a month before the board exams start. Even though these help in the final revision, it is often too late to improve major weak areas.
Be it either HSC Test Series or SSC Test Series, what it will cost you is nothing when compared to the benefits you get out of them. Now, let us see the benefits of joining these Test Series in a short format:
- It Helps Develop Exam Aptitude
- It Helps In Time Management
- Early Detection of Weak Areas
- Offers Real-time Test Practice
- Helps in recognising presentation mistakes
- Fear of Exam Reduces Gradually
- Supports Systematic Study Plan to Boost Your Scores
One tiny tip before you choose – personally, I would suggest go with a test series programme that offers personal mentorship. Please make sure that their test papers are as per the new syllabus of the Maharashtra Board. It is important because feedback should not be general-interesting, but we need constructive comments that will help us in the long run.
Preparing for an exam doesn’t mean you need to study more. More often than not, it means studying smarter. And that’s where the SSC Test Series and HSC Test Series come into the picture. It’s more of application rather than rote learning as it gets you acquainted with the application of concepts in an exam scenario.
