Every listing sells a January 2027 option. With about 11 weeks left, a full course is usually too long; revise from ICAI's material instead.

What must a good Audit faculty cover for January and May 2027?

Paper 5 is 100 marks in 3 hours. ICAI's guidance note sets 30 marks of MCQs (1 or 2 marks each, no negative marking) and 70 marks of descriptive questions. In September 2026, all 15 MCQs carried 2 marks, 12 of them on two case scenarios, and Question 1 of the descriptive part was compulsory.

Which Standards on Auditing are in the Inter syllabus?

The syllabus printed in the July 2026 study material names 27 SAs, from SA 200 to SA 710. Five of them, SA 220, 260, 265, 330 and 450, are overview only, as is SQC 1. Reporting adds CARO 2020.

How does ICAI weight the sections?

ICAI's section-wise weightage (issued 26 October 2023, for May 2024 onwards until changed):

• Nature and scope 4% to 6%; planning 8% to 12%; risk assessment and internal control 8% to 12%.
• Audit evidence and documentation 12% to 18%; audit of items 12% to 20%.
• Completion and review 8% to 12%; the audit report 8% to 12%; special entities and banks 12% to 18%.
• Ethics and terms of audit engagements: 8% to 10%.

What does the ethics chapter cover?

Chapter 11 covers the five fundamental principles, the five threats to independence, safeguards and SA 210. The Chartered Accountants Act misconduct schedules are not in the Inter syllabus; they come at Final (see our CA Final Audit faculty comparison).

Which study material and amendments apply to your attempt?

For January 2027, ICAI's study material notice names the July 2024 edition (reprint August 2025 onwards) plus the January 2027 RTP. May 2027 uses the July 2026 edition, with the same 11 chapters. On 23 October 2026, ICAI had published no applicability list for either attempt. For context only, its May 2026 list had no separate entry for Intermediate Paper 5.

What answer format do ICAI's suggested answers show?

Take the September 2026 answer on SA 610. It names the SA, lists the provisions as numbered points, then applies them in a line starting "In the given situation" and ends with a clear conclusion.

For either attempt, pick a course that teaches the SAs through case answers in this format.

How do you judge an Audit demo lecture?

1. Pick a demo on the audit report or ethics chapter.
2. Check that each point cites its SA number.
3. See whether case scenarios are solved the ICAI way: provision, facts, conclusion.
4. Watch 30 minutes, then write one answer from memory.
