There is no single best DT faculty for CA Final. For May 2027, first check which Income-tax Act the course teaches, because ICAI moves Paper 4 to the Income-tax Act, 2025 from that attempt. Then weigh your language, live or recorded classes, the months left and your weak areas. The seven below are listed alphabetically, not ranked.
Buy a DT course for May 2027 only after you have checked that it teaches the Income-tax Act, 2025 and tax year 2026-27.
TL;DR
- May 2027 is the first CA Final attempt on the Income-tax Act, 2025.
- Published courses here run from about 80 to 250 hours.
- Five of the seven listings say their May 2027 course follows the 2025 Act. For the other two, ask.
- ICAI runs free live DT classes for May 2027 three evenings a week.
Who are the well-known DT faculty for CA Final (May 2027)?
I took the single-faculty DT courses listed first in a large course platform's CA Final Direct Tax section, plus three faculty who sell a May 2027 course on their own sites. Facts for Aagam Dalal, Aarish Khan, Bhanwar Borana and Vijay Sarda come from each faculty's course listing on that platform. The other three come from their own sites, or the VSmart Academy site for Yash Khandelwal. Checked on 23 October 2026. Prices are the lowest listed and change often. I left out anything a listing did not state.

What must a good DT faculty cover for May 2027?
ICAI's Board of Studies announced on 5 December 2025 that the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies to Final Paper 4 from May 2027. The November 2026 paper stays on the 1961 Act. Set C of ICAI's self-paced online modules moves from 1 May 2027 too.
The September 2026 edition of the study material follows the 2025 Act as amended by the Finance Act, 2026 and solves problems for tax year 2026-27. Later changes up to 31 October 2026 will come as a Statutory Update. Your faculty's notes should have:
- Tax year in place of assessment year, and new section numbers: treaty relief is now section 159 (old 90) and the interest limitation rule section 177 (old 94B).
- Exempt income in the Schedules to the new Act rather than section 10.
- Section 536(2)(j), which keeps old circulars in force where they fit the new Act.
How is the DT paper set and weighted?
DT is Paper 4 of Group II, 100 marks in 3 hours. In May 2026, Part I had 15 case-study MCQs of 2 marks each, and in Part II you answered the compulsory Question 1 (14 marks) plus four of the other five. See our CA Final groups and subjects guide and the ICAI paper pattern under the new scheme.
ICAI's section-wise weightage for Paper 4 gives 40-45% to computation and special entities, 20-30% to tax administration and appeals, and 30-35% to international taxation.
International taxation is Module 4, eight chapters running from non-resident taxation and transfer pricing to tax treaties and BEPS. With up to 35% of the marks here, a course that rushes it at the end leaves you short.
For May 2027, pick a 2025 Act course that gives international taxation its full share.
How do you judge a DT demo lecture?
- Pick a demo on a hard chapter, such as transfer pricing, rather than basic concepts.
- Listen for 2025 Act section numbers and "tax year". Old numbers alone point to an old recording.
- Check that computations follow ICAI's format with working notes.
- Ask how the course will cover the Statutory Update.
- Watch 30 minutes at your real speed, then explain it back without notes.
A demo on your weakest chapter tells you more than any list.
What free DT resources does ICAI give?
- Study material: the September 2026 edition on ICAI's DT study material page.
- RTP and MTP: the BoS RTP page (the latest Final RTP, for November 2026, uses the old Act) and the BoS mock test papers page.
- Past papers: ICAI's Final question papers page and suggested answers such as May 2026. These use the 1961 Act, so check every section number. Our CA Final suggested answers post explains how to use them.
- Free live virtual classes for May and November 2027: DT began on 21 July 2026, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 6 pm to 9 pm, after registration. ICAI's announcement says recordings stay available, including on ICAI CA Tube.
You can prepare DT from ICAI's free material and classes, and pay only for the help you lack.
Where do students lose marks in DT?
Patterns I see in checked tax copies:
- Old section numbers. "Section 90" or "assessment year 2027-28" in a paper set on the 2025 Act reads as an answer from the old law.
- No working notes. The May 2026 paper said working notes should form part of the answer.
- Non-resident questions answered from the Act alone when the facts give a treaty rate.
- Too long on Question 1. At 100 marks in 3 hours, 14 marks are worth about 25 minutes.
Timed full papers expose all four before the exam does.
Whichever faculty you choose, write full DT papers and get them checked. In Gradehunt's CA Final test series you write by hand and upload, and an ex-examiner checks each paper within 48 hours with step-wise marks. The first paper is checked free.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1.Who is the best DT faculty for CA Final?
There is no single best one. For May 2027, first rule out any course recorded on the Income-tax Act, 1961. Then weigh your language, the months you have and whether you need live classes. A student weak in transfer pricing should watch each shortlisted faculty's demo on that chapter. Shortlist two, watch the same topic from both, and decide.
Q2.Will a DT course recorded on the old Income-tax Act work for May 2027?
No. ICAI applies the Income-tax Act, 2025 to Paper 4 from May 2027, and its study material is solved for tax year 2026-27. Many concepts carry over, but section numbers, terms such as tax year and the place of exempt income change. A student who sits November 2026 and then May 2027 should not reuse the old notes as they are.
Q3.Should I take live or recorded DT classes for May 2027?
Recorded classes suit most May 2027 students because you set the pace. Live classes help if you need a fixed timetable. Bhanwar Borana's English course and Vaibhav Bansal both list live classes from 12 October 2026. ICAI's free live DT classes for May 2027 run on three evenings a week.
Q4.Which CA Final DT faculty teach in English?
Aarish Khan and Bhanwar Borana have separate English courses of about 225 hours each. The other courses on this page are in Hindi-English mix, or Hindi and English for Nishant Kumar. Watch a demo to check the language before you buy.
Q5.Is ICAI study material enough for CA Final DT?
For many students, yes, if they work through all of it. The September 2026 edition already follows the 2025 Act, and ICAI adds mock test papers and free live classes. Transfer pricing and the assessment of companies are where a teacher's worked examples save the most time. Either way, write full papers against the clock.
Q6.When should I start DT for May 2027?
Now, if you have not started. From late October, May 2027 is about six months away, and the courses here run from about 80 to 250 hours before any revision. At 3 hours a day, a 200-hour course takes about 67 days, so starting in early November still leaves time for revision and full papers.
