CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Previous Year Question Papers with Solutions (2020-2025)

Download CBSE Class 12 Chemistry board papers from 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, three sets for each year, with worked solutions, from the table below. There was no Class 12 board paper in 2021, because CBSE cancelled the exams that year.

Chemistry rewards students who have practised the exact way questions are asked. Five years of papers show you which reactions, numericals and conversions turn up again and again, and how CBSE splits marks inside a long answer.

CBSE Class 12 Chemistry paper pattern (2026-27)

• Theory: 70 marks, 3 hours. Practicals: 30 marks, assessed separately.
• 33 questions in five sections: Section A has 16 one-mark MCQs, Section B 5 two-mark questions, Section C 7 three-mark questions, Section D 2 four-mark case-based questions, and Section E 3 five-mark long answers.
• There is no overall choice, but some questions in Sections B to E have an internal choice.

Unit-wise marks

Electrochemistry carries the most marks of any unit. Organic chemistry (Units 6 to 10) adds up to 33 marks, almost half the paper.

How to practise with these papers

• Do the 2025 and 2024 papers first. They match the current five-section pattern.
• Treat the 2022 papers as extra practice only. That year's exam was term-wise and much shorter.
• Write each paper in three hours, by hand. Chemistry answers take longer to write than students expect, especially mechanisms and conversions.
• Mark your paper against the solutions step by step. In a three-mark numerical, the formula, the substitution with units, and the final answer usually carry separate marks.
• Keep a list of every reaction you could not write from memory, and revise that list before the next paper.

Where students lose marks in Chemistry

These are the mistakes we see most often when checking Class 12 Chemistry answer sheets:

• Numericals in Solutions, Electrochemistry and Chemical Kinetics with no formula written, or with the units dropped halfway through.
• Named reactions explained in words without the chemical equation, or with reagents and conditions missing.
• Conversions that skip a step, so the examiner cannot give marks for the steps in between.
• Wrong IUPAC names and formulas in Coordination Compounds, and hybridisation stated without the reasoning.
• Case-based questions in Section D answered from memory instead of from the data given in the passage.
