There is no single best taxation faculty for CA Inter. First check which Income-tax Act the income-tax course teaches: ICAI moves Paper 3A to the Income-tax Act, 2025 from May 2027, and January 2027 stays on the 1961 Act. Then weigh language, live or recorded classes, weeks left and your weaker section. The list is alphabetical within each group, not ranked.
Match the income-tax course to your attempt first: the 1961 Act for January 2027, the 2025 Act for May 2027.
TL;DR
- January 2027 income tax follows the Income-tax Act, 1961 (assessment year 2026-27); May 2027 follows the Income-tax Act, 2025 (tax year 2026-27).
- Only Aarish Khan's listing names the 2025 Act for May 2027, and Vijay Sarda's has a May 2027 demo titled that way. Ask the rest.
- Published courses run from 54 to 175 hours for income tax and 70 to 130 hours for GST.
Which Income-tax Act applies to January 2027 and May 2027?
ICAI's Board of Studies announced on 5 December 2025 that the Income-tax Act, 2025 applies to Intermediate Paper 3A from May 2027. ICAI's study material shows what each attempt uses:
- January 2027 (Group I papers on 2, 4 and 6 January): the July 2025 edition, on the Income-tax Act, 1961 as amended by the Finance Act, 2025, for assessment year 2026-27, plus the Statutory Update for changes up to 30 June 2026.
- May 2027: the June 2026 edition, on the Income-tax Act, 2025 as amended by the Finance Act, 2026, for tax year 2026-27, with changes up to 30 April 2026. A Statutory Update will add changes up to 31 October 2026.
The references move too: the default tax regime is now section 202 (old section 115BAC), and agricultural income sits in Schedule II, not section 10. A January 2027 student needs a 1961-Act course and a May 2027 student a 2025-Act course. Where a listing below does not name the Act, ask before you pay.
Who are the well-known taxation faculty for CA Inter (January and May 2027)?
Many faculty teach only one section, so I compare two groups: the first five single-faculty income-tax and GST courses offered for January or May 2027 in the CA Inter Taxation section of a large course platform, in its default order. Facts come from each faculty's course listing on that platform, checked on 23 October 2026. Prices are the lowest listed, and every listing links a demo.

Fact-based picks
- Listing names the Income-tax Act, 2025 for May 2027: Aarish Khan. May 2027 demo titled "IT Act 2025": Vijay Sarda.
- Taught in English: Mohit Jain (income tax).
- Shortest courses: Mohit Jain, 54 hours (income tax); Akshansh Garg, 70 hours (GST).
- Unlimited validity: Vijay Sarda, Vishal Bhattad, and Aarish Khan's top plan.
- Lowest starting price: Aarish Khan, ₹3,352 (income tax); Yashvant Mangal, ₹5,499 (GST).
These labels come from the listings, not from my view of anyone's teaching. With about ten weeks to January 2027, a full new course is usually too long; revise from ICAI's material instead.
What must a good taxation faculty cover for your attempt?
Paper 3 is 100 marks in 3 hours: 50 for Income-tax Law (Section A) and 50 for GST (Section B), in separate answer books. ICAI's guidance note sets 30 marks of MCQs and 70 of descriptive questions. ICAI's section-wise weightage gives the heads of income 25% to 30% of Section A, and GST supply, valuation, input tax credit and liability 50% to 80% of Section B. Our CA Inter chapter-wise weightage post covers the other papers.
Which GST amendments apply to each attempt?
For January 2027, ICAI's GST material is the July 2025 edition (law up to 30 April 2025) plus statutory updates. The rate changes of 22 September 2025 are in the updates for May and September 2026; GTA services with input tax credit, for example, moved from 12% to 18%. The January 2027 update, for changes up to 30 June 2026, was not on the BoS portal on 23 October 2026.
For May 2027, the July 2026 edition covers the law up to 30 April 2026, a cut-off that falls after the September 2025 rate changes. A Statutory Update will add changes up to 31 October 2026, and ICAI will announce whether the Finance Act, 2026 GST amendments apply.
Ask any GST faculty which statutory update their notes include.
How do you judge a tax demo lecture?
- Ask which Act and which attempt the recording is for, and get the answer in writing.
- For May 2027, listen for "tax year" and 2025 Act sections such as section 202. For January 2027, assessment year 2026-27 and 1961 Act sections are right.
- In a GST demo, check one rate against the September 2025 changes.
- Watch 30 minutes at your real speed and work out whether the course ends before your revision month.

What does ICAI give you for Taxation?
- Free study material: Section A for January 2027, Section A for May 2027, Section B for January 2027 and Section B for May 2027.
- Statutory updates on the BoS Knowledge Portal, including the January 2027 income-tax update.
- Free mock tests for January 2027: Paper 3 on 23 November and 7 December 2026, with answer keys within 48 hours. The January 2027 RTP was not on the RTP page on 23 October.
- ICAI's revision classes for January 2027 on Zoom: income tax on Monday and Wednesday evenings, GST on Friday and Saturday evenings.
- Live Virtual Classes for May 2027, at ₹1,000 per group for live plus recorded or ₹200 for recordings only (₹2,000 or ₹400 for both groups). The GST classes run until 29 December 2026. ICAI CA Tube is on YouTube.
- Question papers and suggested answers. These use the 1961 Act, so May 2027 students should check every section number.
Most of Paper 3 can be prepared from ICAI's study material and mock tests; pay only for the section you find hard.
Where do students lose marks in Paper 3?
What I see in checked taxation copies:
- Assessment year and old section numbers in an answer set on the 2025 Act, or the reverse.
- A computation without working notes, so a wrong total earns no step marks.
- GST answers at rates in force before 22 September 2025.
- Too long on Section A, so GST gets rushed. Each section carries 50 marks, about 90 minutes.
One timed full paper shows which of these are yours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1.Who is the best taxation faculty for CA Inter?
There is no single best one, and you can take one faculty for income tax and another for GST. First match the income-tax course to the Act your attempt follows. Then weigh language and hours. A May 2027 student weak in input tax credit should watch two GST demos on that chapter and pick the method they can repeat alone.
Q2.Which Income-tax Act applies to CA Inter January 2027 and May 2027?
January 2027 uses the Income-tax Act, 1961 as amended by the Finance Act, 2025, for assessment year 2026-27. May 2027 uses the Income-tax Act, 2025 as amended by the Finance Act, 2026, for tax year 2026-27. ICAI announced the switch on 5 December 2025, and its study material for each attempt follows it.
Q3.Can I use a January 2027 income-tax course for May 2027?
Not as it is. Concepts such as the heads of income carry over, but the section numbers change and "tax year" replaces assessment year. The default regime is section 202 (old 115BAC), and agricultural income now sits in Schedule II. A student who writes January 2027 and then May 2027 should move to 2025-Act notes for the second attempt.
Q4.Should I take the same faculty for income tax and GST?
Only if both demos suit you. The platform I checked also sells combined courses, often pairing two faculty, but each of the ten courses in this guide covers one section. The two sections are taught and answered separately, so choose each faculty on their own demo.
Q5.Which CA Inter taxation faculty teaches in English?
Of the ten here, Prof Mohit Jain's 54-hour income-tax course is in English, offered up to January 2027. The other nine teach in Hindi-English mix. No GST course in this guide is in English, so watch a full demo to judge the language mix before you buy.
Q6.Is ICAI study material enough for CA Inter Taxation?
For many students, yes, if they add the statutory update for their attempt and write ICAI's mock tests. The material solves problems for the right Act and year. A student comfortable with computations may self-study income tax and take help only for GST input tax credit and place of supply.
Q7.Do the September 2025 GST rate changes apply to CA Inter?
Yes, for both attempts. For January 2027 they come through ICAI's statutory updates for May and September 2026, and the May 2027 study material's 30 April 2026 cut-off falls after them. GTA services with input tax credit, for example, are at 18%, not 12%. If your notes still show 12%, ask the faculty for the update.
