There is no single best cost faculty for CA Inter. Choose on four things: the language you follow best, live or recorded classes, the weeks left before your attempt, and the Costing chapters you find hardest. The seven faculty below are in alphabetical order, not ranked, with facts only.
Costing marks come from clean statements and working notes, so pick a course you will finish and leave time to write full papers.
TL;DR
- Published Costing courses run from 170 to about 200 hours, and prices start at ₹7,650.
- Cost ascertainment (35% to 40%) and cost control (25% to 30%) carry most of Paper 4 in ICAI's weightage.
- ICAI's Paper 4 mock tests for January 2027 are on 25 November and 9 December 2026.
Well-known Costing faculty for CA Inter (January and May 2027)
How I picked them: names that appear in published "best Costing faculty" lists, each with a full Paper 4 course on a large course platform. Facts come from each faculty's course listing on that platform, checked on 23 October 2026. Prices are the lowest listed and change often. Every listing links a demo; anything not stated is left out.

His course has 62 lectures and 183 hours in a Hindi-English mix, on Google Drive or a mobile app. Validity is 9 months, with a 1.5x or 2x view limit. CA Harshad Jaju
His listing gives CA and B.Com. The course has 71 lectures and 195 hours in a Hindi-English mix. Validity is unlimited, with a 2x view limit, and every option costs ₹9,000. January 2027 students get the March 2026 recording or the June 2026 mentorship course. For May and September 2027 the course is recorded from November 2026, on Google Drive or live.
CA Namit Arora
His listing says he cleared every ICAI exam in the first attempt and has taught since 2011. The course has 82 lectures and about 200 hours in a Hindi-English mix, recorded in February 2025, on Google Drive. It has a 2x view limit and validity of 6 to 18 months, from ₹10,499 for 6 months, for January and May 2027.
CA Purushottam Aggarwal
His listing says he started face-to-face classes in Delhi and Kolkata in 2014. The course has about 55 lectures and 180 hours in a Hindi-English mix, recorded from October 2024 to June 2025, on Google Drive or pen drive. Validity is 8 months with a 2x view limit. CA Sankalp Kanstiya
His listing says he worked at JP Morgan Chase and has taught for 8 years. The course has 75 lectures and 175 to 200 hours in a Hindi-English mix, on Google Drive or a mobile app. Validity is 12 months with a 1.7x view limit, at ₹8,499. The June 2026 recording covers January and May 2027, and a live course runs from 12 November 2026 to 31 January 2027 for May 2027 onwards.
CA Satish Jalan
His listing gives CA, CS and CIMA qualifications. The course has 80 lectures and 175 hours in a Hindi-English mix, on Google Drive or pen drive. Views are unlimited and validity runs till the exam term. It costs ₹9,999 for January 2027 and ₹10,999 for May 2027.
If you are writing in January 2027, a 170 to 200-hour course is usually too long to finish alongside the other Group II papers. A revision course or ICAI's classes fit better.

What must a good Costing faculty cover for 2027?
How is Paper 4 set?
Paper 4 is 100 marks in 3 hours. ICAI's guidance note for the Intermediate exam gives 30 marks of MCQs (1 or 2 marks each, no negative marking) and 70 marks of descriptive questions. In ICAI's May 2024 suggested answers for Paper 4, the descriptive part made Question 1 compulsory, asked for any four of the other five, and said working notes should form part of the answer.
Which chapters carry the marks?
ICAI's section-wise weightage, matched to the 15 study material chapters:
- Section I, 10% to 15%: introduction to cost and management accounting, and cost sheets.
- Section II, 35% to 40%: material, employee cost, overheads, activity based costing, and cost accounting systems.
- Section III, 20% to 25%: methods of costing (unit, job, process, joint products and service costing).
- Section IV, 25% to 30%: standard costing, marginal costing, and budgets.
Other papers are in our CA Inter chapter-wise weightage post.
How should cost sheets and working notes look?
Follow ICAI's May 2024 suggested answers. The formula comes first, then the figures, then the answer with its unit, as in an EOQ of 6,000 units. Process accounts carry units and amount columns on both sides. Working notes sit under their own heading, and the main statement says "Refer to working note". Where a question allows two readings, ICAI states its assumption and shows both.
Which chapters are calculator-heavy?
Variances, equivalent units in process costing, budgets, marginal costing and EOQ. ICAI allows only a battery-operated calculator with up to 6 functions, 12 digits and two memories, and no scientific calculator. Practise on that one from day one.
Sections II and IV hold 60% to 70% of the paper, so test a faculty on those chapters first.
How do you judge a Costing demo lecture?
Watch one cost sheet and one standard costing lecture before you pay. Then:
- Check that the faculty builds a full cost sheet, with every item in its place.
- Look for variances that reconcile, with price and usage adding up to the material cost variance.
- Count the ICAI study material, RTP and past-paper questions solved in class.
- Work out whether, at your pace, the course ends before your revision month.
Our January 2027 study plan shows how the weeks fill up, and the Advanced Accounting faculty guide covers Paper 1.
What does ICAI give you for Costing?
- Study material: the July 2024 edition (reprint August 2025 onwards) for January 2027, as ICAI's notice says, and a new edition for May 2027 on ICAI's study material page.
- RTPs: the January 2027 RTP was not on the Revision Test Papers page yet on 23 October 2026.
- Mock tests for January 2027: Paper 4 on 25 November and 9 December 2026, with answer keys within 48 hours.
- New-scheme question papers and suggested answers.
- Revision classes for January 2027, on Zoom on Monday and Wednesday mornings since 12 October 2026.
- Live Virtual Classes for May 2027, with Paper 4 from 18 October 2026 (₹1,000 per group, or ₹200 for recordings only), and ICAI CA Tube on YouTube.
Write both mock tests in three hours.
Where do students lose marks in Costing?
What I see most in checked Costing copies:
- Working notes left out, so a wrong final figure earns no step marks.
- Selling costs placed inside cost of production on the cost sheet.
- Variances given without saying favourable or adverse.
- Process accounts where the units columns do not balance.
Whichever faculty you choose, write full papers and get them checked. On Gradehunt's CA Inter test series you write papers by hand and upload them, and an ex-examiner checks each within 48 hours with step-wise marks. The first paper is checked free, and Gradehunt has checked more than 6,000 answer sheets. Comparing faculty for other papers? See our subject-wise CA Inter faculty guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1.Who is the best faculty for CA Inter Costing?
No one faculty is best for everyone. It depends on your language, live or recorded preference, time left and the chapters you find hardest. A student with six months and weak standard costing can take a 200-hour course; one with 11 weeks needs something shorter. Watch a cost sheet demo from two faculty before you decide.
Q2.Should I choose live or recorded Costing classes?
Choose live if you need a fixed timetable to keep going, and recorded if your day is irregular. Recorded lectures let you pause and try a process costing sum before the faculty solves it. A live course, like the one listed from 12 November 2026 to 31 January 2027, ends on a set date, which helps students who drift on their own.
Q3.Is ICAI study material enough for Costing without classes?
It can be, if your basics are steady. The study material covers all 15 chapters with worked examples, and ICAI adds RTPs, MTPs and low-cost live classes. A student who already handles cost sheets and marginal costing may manage on self-study and timed MTPs. Someone lost in variances is better off with a teacher for that chapter at least.
Q4.Which CA Inter Costing faculty teaches in English?
None of the seven in this guide sells an English-only Costing course. All teach in a Hindi-English mix and give books in English. Since the share of Hindi differs from one teacher to the next, watch a full demo lecture before you pay if you follow Hindi poorly.
Q5.Can I finish a full Costing course before January 2027?
Usually not. Group II papers are on 8, 10 and 12 January 2027, about 11 weeks away. A 170 to 200-hour course at three hours a day takes roughly two months, leaving no time for the other Group II papers or revision. Revise from the study material, join ICAI's revision classes and write both MTPs.
Q6.Which calculator is allowed in the CA Inter Costing exam?
A battery-operated calculator with up to 6 functions, 12 digits and two memories, as ICAI's guidance note states. Scientific calculators are not allowed, and trying to use one counts as unfair means. Do every practice paper on the calculator you will take into the hall.
