ICAI is set to declare the CA Intermediate September 2026 result on 22 October 2026, according to its notice reported by several news sites. You will be able to check it on caresults.icai.org with your registration number and roll number. This page explains how to check the result, what the pass rules are, and what to do next whether you clear one group, both groups or neither.

Whatever the result says, decide your next attempt this week. The January 2027 form opens on 3 November, and the students who start writing papers early are the ones who clear it.

TL;DR

  • Result date: 22 October 2026, expected in the evening, on caresults.icai.org.
  • You need your registration number and roll number. Keep your admit card handy.
  • To pass a group you need at least 40% in each paper and 50% in total for the group.
  • Missed it? The next CA Inter exams are in January 2027: Group I on 2, 4 and 6 January, Group II on 8, 10 and 12 January.
  • The January 2027 exam form window opens on 3 November 2026.

How do you check the CA Inter September 2026 result?

  1. Open caresults.icai.org once ICAI announces that the result is live.
  2. Choose the CA Intermediate result link for September 2026.
  3. Enter your registration number and your roll number from the admit card.
  4. Submit, then download or screenshot your marks statement.

On result day the site is often slow for the first hour. If it does not load, wait a few minutes and try again rather than refreshing again and again. ICAI also usually sends results by email and SMS to students who registered for that service.

What marks do you need to pass CA Inter?

You pass a group when you score at least 40% in every paper of that group and at least 50% in the aggregate of the group. Group I has Advanced Accounting, Corporate and Other Laws, and Taxation. Group II has Cost and Management Accounting, Auditing and Ethics, and Financial Management and Strategic Management.

A common surprise is a student who has 50% overall but 38 in one paper. That group is not cleared, because the 40% rule applies to each paper separately. Check every paper's marks, not just the total.

Under the current scheme, a score of 60% or more in a paper can earn an exemption in that paper for later attempts if you do not clear the group. ICAI shows any exemption on the marks statement, so read it carefully.

Cleared both groups: what next?

Congratulations. Your next steps are the ICAI training courses and practical training (articleship) that lead to CA Final. Check ICAI's current rules on the order and timing before you register, since they decide when you become eligible for the Final exam.

Use the articleship years well. Students who keep writing a paper a month during articleship find the Final syllabus far less heavy later. When you are ready, the CA Final test series lets you start with chapter tests and move to full papers.

Cleared one group: what next?

You now have one group left, and the January 2027 attempt is about ten weeks away. That is enough time for one group if you start this week.

  • Week 1: read your marks statement and list the papers where you were closest to 40% or 50%.
  • Weeks 2 to 6: chapter tests in the remaining group, written by hand and checked.
  • Weeks 7 to 10: at least two full three-hour papers per subject before 8 January, if your remaining group is Group II.

Our CA Inter study plan and chapter-wise weightage posts help you decide what to cover first.

Did not clear either group: what next?

A result like this hurts, but it is common at Inter and it is not the end of the road. Most students who clear on a later attempt change one thing: they stop only reading and start writing full answers under the clock, then get those answers checked.

Before you plan, look at your marks per paper. If most papers are between 35 and 45, your problem is usually presentation and time, not concepts. Missing working notes, laws without section numbers and unfinished papers cost exactly these marks. If several papers are below 30, you need to rebuild those subjects first.

For January 2027 you can write one group or both. If your marks were close in both groups, both is possible. If not, one group done well is better than two done badly.

How can a test series help before January 2027?

A test series gives you what self-study cannot: an examiner marking your own handwriting, step by step, and telling you where the marks went. GradeHunt's CA Inter test series follows the ICAI pattern for January 2027, and every paper comes back checked by an ex-examiner within 48 hours, with remarks on each answer.

If you are unsure, start with one paper. Your first CA paper is free, so you can see the checking before you pay.

Results and pass percentages for September 2026 will be added here once ICAI publishes them.
