The ICSE specimen papers for 2027 are out on cisce.org for 11 Class 10 subjects, each with an answer key. CISCE's circular of 9 October 2026 says questions testing higher-order skills such as Apply, Analyse, Evaluate and Create carry about 50% weightage in the 2027 exams. For subjects without a new specimen, the 2026 structure continues.

The specimen fixes the format, not the questions. Use it to learn where the marks sit and how long each section takes, then practise the whole syllabus.

TL;DR

  • 11 ICSE subjects have a 2027 specimen paper and answer key on the CISCE website.
  • About 50% of the marks test Apply, Analyse, Evaluate and Create, as per CISCE's circular.
  • Every specimen says the board paper keeps the same format, but questions can come from any part of the syllabus.
  • Other subjects follow the 2026 rubrics and structure.
  • CISCE has also posted the 2026 main and improvement question papers.

Which subjects have an ICSE specimen paper for 2027?

The circular and CISCE's specimen page list these ICSE subjects:

  • English Language (English Paper 1) and Literature in English (English Paper 2)
  • Mathematics
  • Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Science Papers 1, 2 and 3)
  • History and Civics, and Geography (H.C.G. Papers 1 and 2)
  • Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
  • Assistant Beauty Therapist and Assistant Hair Stylist

The same circular lists specimen papers for some Class 9, ISC Class 11 and ISC Class 12 subjects.

English, Maths, the three sciences and H.C.G. all have a 2027 specimen. Hindi and other second languages, Economics, Commercial Studies and Computer Applications do not.

What changed in the ICSE specimen papers for 2027?

Two things. First, the weightage: CISCE puts higher-order questions at about half the paper. Second, most questions now carry a skill tag in the margin, such as Recall, Understanding, Application, Analysis or Evaluation. In the Chemistry specimen, Application is the tag that appears most often.

The circular also says board questions may differ from the specimen, while the topic-wise weightage in the Regulations and Syllabuses for 2027 will be kept. So the chapter split comes from the syllabus document and the question style comes from the specimen.

Expect about half the marks from questions that ask you to apply or analyse, not recall.

How are the main 2027 papers set out?

English

English Paper 1 is 80 marks in two hours, with all five questions compulsory. The composition (300 to 350 words) carries 20 marks and the letter 10; the paper advises no more than 30 and 20 minutes on them. English Paper 2 has a compulsory Section A, then one question each from Sections B, C and D and one more of your choice.

Mathematics and science

Maths is 80 marks in three hours: Section A of 40 marks is compulsory and you answer any four of seven Section B questions. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are 80 marks in two hours each, with a compulsory 40-mark Section A and any four of six Section B questions. Our posts on the Maths pattern and the Physics pattern go through the marking schemes.

History, Civics and Geography

History and Civics has a compulsory Part I of 30 marks. In Part II you answer two of three questions in Section A and three of five in Section B. Geography has a compulsory 30-mark Part I built on a Survey of India map extract, then five questions from Part II.

Every main paper is 80 marks, with a compulsory first part and a choice in the second.

How should you use the specimen papers?

  1. Download the paper and answer key for each subject from cisce.org, not from a copy on another site.
  2. Write the first paper under exam time, with the 15 minutes of reading time.
  3. Mark it yourself with the answer key, line by line, and note where you lost marks.
  4. Keep the second attempt of the same specimen for the last month, to check your speed.
  5. Use the 2026 board papers and past papers for the rest of your practice.

One timed attempt early, one late, and past papers in between.

What about subjects without a 2027 specimen?

The circular says the existing rubrics and assessment structure of the 2026 cycle apply. Use the 2026 specimen and the 2026 board paper for those subjects, and check the 2027 syllabus for any chapter changes. CISCE has not released the 2027 timetable yet.

No new specimen means the 2026 pattern holds.

If you want a specimen or mock checked step by step, Gradehunt's ICSE Class 10 test series has students write by hand and upload, and a subject expert returns each paper within 48 hours with step-wise marks and comments. The first paper is checked free.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1.Are ICSE specimen papers 2027 released?

Ans.

Yes. CISCE released specimen papers with answer keys for 11 ICSE subjects, announced in its circular of 9 October 2026. Download them from the specimen page on cisce.org.

Q2.Will the ICSE 2027 board paper be the same as the specimen?

Ans.

The format will be the same, but not the questions. Each specimen says board questions can come from any part of the syllabus. A student who only memorises specimen answers will meet new questions in March.

Q3.What is the 50% competency rule in ICSE 2027?

Ans.

CISCE's circular says questions testing Apply, Analyse, Evaluate and Create carry about 50% weightage in 2027. In practice, half the paper asks you to use a concept, not just state it.

Q4.Is there an ICSE 2027 specimen paper for Computer Applications?

Ans.

Not in the ICSE Class 10 list. The circular lists Computer Applications only for ICSE Class 9 in 2027. For Class 10 Computer Applications, the 2026 structure applies.

Q5.How long is the ICSE Maths specimen paper 2027?

Ans.

Three hours of writing plus 15 minutes of reading time, for 80 marks. The science papers and English papers are two hours each, so time your Maths mocks separately.

Q6.Do ICSE specimen papers come with answers?

Ans.

Yes. Each 2027 specimen PDF on cisce.org includes the answer key or marking scheme. Mark your own attempt against it line by line to see where marks go.
