CA Inter MTP Series 1 for January 2027: Dates, How to Write and Get It Checked

CA Inter MTP Series 1 for January 2027 runs from 19 to 30 November 2026, and Series 2 from 3 to 14 December 2026. ICAI's Board of Studies announced it on 14 October 2026: six papers in each series, 10 AM to 1 PM, physical or virtual. I set each MTP against the same paper's exam date. Series 1 comes 44 days before the real paper and Series 2 comes 30 days before, for every paper except Paper 6.

Each paper gets two dress rehearsals 14 days apart, then 30 days to fix what they show.

When is CA Inter MTP Series 1 for January 2027?

These are the dates in the BoS announcement. Every paper runs 10 AM to 1 PM.

• Paper 1, Advanced Accounting: Thursday 19 November (Series 1), Thursday 3 December (Series 2).
• Paper 2, Corporate and Other Laws: Saturday 21 November, Saturday 5 December.
• Paper 3, Taxation: Monday 23 November, Monday 7 December.
• Paper 4, Cost and Management Accounting: Wednesday 25 November, Wednesday 9 December.
• Paper 5, Auditing and Ethics: Friday 27 November, Friday 11 December.
• Paper 6, Financial Management and Strategic Management: Monday 30 November, Monday 14 December.

Papers go up by 9.30 AM on the BoS Knowledge Portal and bosmtp.icai.org. For the physical mode, ask your ICAI branch.

How many days does each MTP give you before the real paper?

ICAI's exam notice gives Group I on 2, 4 and 6 January 2027 and Group II on 8, 10 and 12 January, 2 PM to 5 PM. It prints dates by group, not by paper, so I have assumed Papers 1 to 6 run in order, as in our CA Inter exam dates post. For January 2026, ICAI's rescheduling notice of 27 December 2025 named Paper 5 as the paper set for 15 January, the fifth exam day, which fits that order.

• Paper 1, exam 2 January: 44 days after Series 1, 30 after Series 2.
• Paper 2, exam 4 January: 44 and 30 days.
• Paper 3, exam 6 January: 44 and 30 days.
• Paper 4, exam 8 January: 44 and 30 days.
• Paper 5, exam 10 January: 44 and 30 days.
• Paper 6, exam 12 January: 43 and 29 days.

The numbers repeat because the MTPs and the exam both run on alternate days; only MTP Paper 6 comes three days after Paper 5. After Series 2 ends on 14 December, 19 days remain before Paper 1.

Every paper gets 44 days after Series 1 and 30 after Series 2, a day less for Paper 6.

Is the January 2027 gap shorter than in earlier attempts?

Between the two series, yes, compared with January and May 2026. I put the last four BoS MTP announcements for Inter next to the exam notices. Each line gives both series' start dates, the gap between them, and the days from Series 2 Paper 1 to exam Paper 1.

• January 2026: 18 November 2025 and 6 December; 18 days apart; 31 days to the exam on 6 January.
• May 2026: 16 March and 2 April; 17 days apart; 33 days to the exam on 5 May (ICAI moved the Inter start from 3 May).
• September 2026: 25 July and 8 August; 14 days apart; 24 days to the exam on 1 September.
• January 2027: 19 November and 3 December; 14 days apart; 30 days to the exam on 2 January.

You get two weeks to repair Series 1 mistakes, four days less than a year ago, while the time after Series 2 is close to January 2026's. The two series are 14 days apart, as in September 2026.

What did the latest CA Inter paper look like?

Check the MTP against the last real paper. This is what ICAI's September 2026 suggested answers show:

• Every paper had 30 marks of MCQs in Part I. Papers 1, 2, 4 and 5 had 15 MCQs of 2 marks. Papers 3 and 6 had 16, with fourteen of 2 marks and two of 1 mark.
• Most MCQs sat in case scenarios, 71 of the 92. Paper 2 had six scenarios covering all 15 MCQs, Papers 1 and 3 had three each, and Papers 4, 5 and 6 had two each.
• In Papers 1, 2, 4 and 5, Question 1 of Part II was compulsory, then any four of the remaining five.
• Papers 3 and 6 had two sections. In each, one question was compulsory and you picked two of the other three.
• Five of the 92 MCQs had an unusual key: no correct option in three (Paper 2 Q4, Paper 5 Q5, Paper 6 Q7) and two accepted options in two (Paper 3 Q5, Paper 6 Q9).

A disputed MTP MCQ is not worth lost revision time. The September 2026 papers had 30 MCQ marks each, mostly in case scenarios, and a compulsory Question 1 in Part II.

How should you write the MTP at home?

1. Download the paper on the day, but don't open it until you sit down to write.
2. Write from 2 PM to 5 PM in virtual mode, after 15 minutes of reading. That is the exam slot, and ICAI only asks that you keep to the time limit.
3. Write your MCQ answers on a separate sheet, and Part II in a ruled answer book.
4. Mark the paper when the key comes out: for Series 1 Paper 1, by 10 AM on 21 November.
5. List every lost mark by question and topic, and clear that list before Series 2.

Write each MTP in one three-hour sitting, mark it against the key, and use the 14 days to fix the losses.

Should you self-check the MTP or get it evaluated?

For numerical papers, self-checking works if you are strict. Compare each working note with ICAI's answer key as well as the final figure. Law, Audit and Strategic Management answers are harder to mark yourself, because the key gives one version and you can't judge whether your wording earns the mark.

In the copies I check, the marks lost in descriptive answers usually come from a provision that is named but not stated, or a conclusion left out. Students marking their own Law answers tend to credit both.

For Taxation, read the first page of ICAI's January 2027 RTP before you mark. It says the income-tax law as amended by the Finance Act, 2025 applies, with assessment year 2026-27.
