For CA Foundation January 2027, the last eight weeks start on Monday 9 November and end with the first paper on Sunday 3 January. Use the first three weeks to revise all four papers once. Write ICAI's two mock test series in December as if they were the exam, and keep the final week for the mistakes those mocks show. ICAI's exam notice fixes the papers on 3, 5, 7 and 9 January 2027. It does not print paper names against the dates, but ICAI's MTP calendar runs Papers 1 to 4 in number order, so Paper 1 is expected on 3 January. Your admit card will confirm it. Papers 1 and 2 are descriptive and run three hours. Papers 3 and 4 are two-hour MCQ papers, with 0.25 mark off for each wrong answer.
You have 22 free days before the first mock. After that, ICAI's calendar sets most of your pace.
What the calendar gives you, counted day by day:
- 55 days from Monday 9 November to Paper 1. Only 22 of them come before MTP Series I opens on 1 December.
- Eight mock afternoons fixed by ICAI, 20 hours of timed writing. Add the September 2026 Papers 1 and 2 and two older MCQ papers and you write 12 full papers, 30 hours in all.
- Each MTP answer key is due within 48 hours, so for four of the eight mocks the key lands on the day of the next mock.
- Four clear days, 10 to 13 December, sit between Series I and Series II.
- The last key is due by 23 December, 11 days before Paper 1.
- In the exam itself you get one free day between papers: 4, 6 and 8 January.

CA Foundation January 2027 study plan, week by week
Inside each paper, the order follows ICAI's section-wise weightage, biggest section first. The running total is how many of the 400 marks you have revised once. Exact section ranges are in our chapter-wise weightage post.
- Week 1, 9 to 15 November: Paper 1 Accounting in full. Start with Section II, the accounting process, at 30% to 35%, then final accounts (20% to 25%), company accounts (15% to 25%), partnership (15% to 20%) and theory last. Evenings: Business Mathematics, Part A of Paper 3. Running total: 140 of 400.
- Week 2, 16 to 22 November: submit the exam form by Monday 16 November. Paper 2 Business Laws, Contract Act first (20% to 30%), then Sale of Goods, Partnership and Companies Act at 15% to 20% each, and the smaller Acts last. Evenings: logical reasoning and statistics, the other 60 marks of Paper 3. Running total: 300 of 400.
- Week 3, 23 to 29 November: Paper 4 Business Economics, starting with the two 15% chapters, price determination and national income. On Saturday and Sunday write the September 2026 Paper 1 and Paper 2 from 2 PM to 5 PM. Register on bosmtp.icai.org. Running total: 400 of 400.
- Week 4, 30 November to 6 December: MTP Series I, Accounting on Tuesday 1 December and Business Laws on Thursday 3 December. Mark Accounting on 4 December. The Laws key is due by 2 PM on 5 December, so mark it that evening and keep 6 December for Paper 3 formulas.
- Week 5, 7 to 13 December: Series I Quantitative Aptitude on Monday 7 December and Economics on Wednesday 9 December. Use 10 to 13 December on one repair list covering all four papers.
- Week 6, 14 to 20 December: Series II Accounting on 14 December, Laws on 16 December and Quantitative Aptitude on 18 December. Mark each the day after its key.
- Week 7, 21 to 27 December: Series II Economics on Monday 21 December. Then write the May 2026 Papers 3 and 4 from ICAI's suggested answer files in two-hour sittings, and rewrite every Accounting answer that lost marks on format.
- Week 8, 28 December to 3 January: revise one paper a day in exam order from your repair list, sitting at 2 PM. Download the admit card once ICAI puts it up. The first paper is on Sunday 3 January.

Why does the answer key timing matter?
ICAI's MTP notice says each key comes within 48 hours of the paper's start. Series I Accounting starts at 2 PM on 1 December, so its key is due by 2 PM on 3 December, the hour Business Laws begins. It happens again with Series I Quantitative Aptitude and with Series II Accounting and Laws.
So don't plan to mark a mock the evening after you write it. Write, rest, then mark the day after the next mock. The pressure point is 10 to 13 December. All four Series I keys are out by 11 December, and Series II starts on 14 December. Four days is enough to fix one page of mistakes per paper, not to relearn a chapter. Anything bigger has to be done in Weeks 1 to 3.
Missed CA Foundation in September 2026? Start here
ICAI announced the September 2026 Foundation result on 6 November 2026 on its results portal. If you did not pass, you have ten days to apply. The January 2027 form closes on 16 November, or 19 November with the ₹600 late fee.
ICAI's rule is 40% in each paper and 50% in aggregate at one sitting, so you rewrite all four papers. Nothing carries over. Your marks statement still tells you where to put the time. If one paper was below 40, add that paper to your evenings in Weeks 1 to 3. If every paper cleared 40 but the total fell short of 200, look at the MCQ papers first. Every wrong answer you turn into a blank gives back a quarter mark.
Paper sizes, timings and the form steps are in our January 2027 exam dates post.
CA Foundation preparation tips for the final weeks
- Write every practice paper in the real slot. For Papers 1 and 2 that means reading time from 1.45 PM. Papers 3 and 4 have no reading time, so practise starting cold at 2 PM.
- In MCQ mocks, count wrong answers and blanks separately. Each wrong answer costs a quarter mark, and that number should fall from Series I to Series II.
- Revise from ICAI's modules and the January 2027 RTP, not new books. Our study material guide lists the ICAI files.
- Format losses in Accounting repeat from paper to paper. Check your answers against our list of Foundation Accounts format mistakes.
- ICAI had not listed September 2026 suggested answers on 6 November, so treat those papers as unseen tests. The full list of ICAI files is in our question papers, RTP and MTP post.
Should you get your mock papers checked?
For Papers 3 and 4 the key is enough. For Accounting and Business Laws it is not, because a key shows the right answer and says nothing about the marks your own working and wording would get. The Gradehunt CA Foundation test series checks all four papers, MCQ and descriptive, by ex-examiners within 48 hours of upload, and the first paper is checked free. Doubts on an evaluated test are answered within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1.How should I prepare for CA Foundation January 2027 in the last two months?
Revise all four papers once by 29 November, write MTP Series I from 1 to 9 December and Series II from 14 to 21 December, and spend 28 December to 2 January on your own mistakes. The first paper is on Sunday 3 January 2027.
Q2.Is eight weeks enough time for CA Foundation January 2027?
For revision and practice, yes, if you have read the full syllabus once. The plan gives the whole syllabus three weeks of revision and still leaves time for 12 full papers. If a whole subject is still unread on 9 November, start it first and cut Week 3 practice.
Q3.I failed CA Foundation in September 2026. Can I write in January 2027?
Yes. The result was announced on 6 November 2026 and the January 2027 form on eservices.icai.org is open until 16 November, or 19 November with a ₹600 late fee. You must write all four papers again, because Foundation is passed at one sitting.
Q4.What should I do between MTP Series I and Series II?
Mark each paper against ICAI's key, list every lost mark by topic, and fix that list from 10 to 13 December. Series I ends on 9 December and Series II starts on 14 December, so there is no time to relearn whole chapters.
Q5.How many mock papers should I write before CA Foundation January 2027?
Twelve is a workable number: eight ICAI MTPs, the September 2026 Papers 1 and 2, and May 2026 Papers 3 and 4 from ICAI's suggested answer files. That is 30 hours of timed writing, about a full exam attempt three times over.
Q6.What should I study on the gap day between CA Foundation papers?
Only the next paper. The exam days are 3, 5, 7 and 9 January 2027, so each of the first three papers is followed by one clear day: 4, 6 and 8 January. Use it for formulas, formats and your repair list for that paper, not for a new chapter.
