ICMAI gives CMA Inter and Final students two ways to question a result. Verification of marks costs Rs 250 a paper, and you must apply within 30 days of the result. A certified photocopy of your evaluated answer script costs Rs 500 a paper and has a shorter window, 21 days. There is no separate inspection service on the exam portal; to inspect an answer book you file an RTI request instead.
Verification only re-adds your marks and looks for answers nobody marked. The certified copy is the one that shows you where the marks went.
TL;DR
- Certified photocopy: Rs 500 a paper, apply within 21 days of the result.
- Verification of marks: Rs 250 a paper, apply within 30 days. It checks totalling and unmarked answers only.
- For the June 2026 term (result on 5 August 2026), those windows closed on 26 August and 4 September 2026.
- ICMAI keeps the original hard copy for only 60 days after the result, and a soft copy for one year.
- If you apply for both, the photocopy comes only after verification is complete.
What does ICMAI offer after the CMA Inter or Final result?
ICMAI's Post Exam page lists two services: verification of answer papers and certified photocopies of evaluated answer scripts. Here they are side by side, with the RTI route added.
Verification of answer papers
- Fee: Rs 250 per paper.
- Window: within 30 days from the date the result is declared.
- What ICMAI checks: mistakes in totalling and any answer left unexamined.
- What you get: a verification result, with no question-wise marks.
- Refund: ICMAI refunds the fee for any paper where it finds a mistake.
Certified photocopy of the evaluated answer script
- Fee: Rs 500 per paper.
- Window: within 21 days from the date the result is declared.
- What you get: a copy of your own checked script, for your academic guidance only.
- Catch: if you also applied for verification, ICMAI releases the copy only after verification is over.
Inspection or copy under RTI
- Fee: Rs 10 to apply, Rs 2 per page for copies, inspection free for the first hour and Rs 5 per 15 minutes after that.
- Where: the Public Information Officer for examination matters at ICMAI's Kolkata office.

Two services run through the exam portal, verification at Rs 250 and the certified copy at Rs 500, and inspection is only possible through RTI.
How many days do you get after the result?
I counted the days for the June 2026 term, whose Inter and Final result came out on 5 August 2026, against the December 2026 dates in ICMAI's timetable.
June 2026 term, day 0 = 5 August 2026
- Day 21, 26 August 2026: last day to apply for a certified photocopy.
- Day 30, 4 September 2026: last day to apply for verification.
- Day 60, 4 October 2026: ICMAI's retention period for the original hard copy ends.
- Day 66, 10 October 2026: last date for the December 2026 exam form without late fee.
- Day 73, 17 October 2026: last date with the Rs 500 late fee.
- Day 127, 10 December 2026: December exams begin.
- Day 365, 5 August 2027: the one-year soft copy retention ends.
December 2026 term, if the result comes on 5 February 2027
ICMAI's December 2026 timetable says the Inter and Final result will be published latest by 5 February 2027. If it comes that day, the certified copy window closes on 26 February 2027, verification on 7 March 2027 and the hard copy retention on 6 April 2027. If the result comes earlier, every date moves up by the same number of days.
Source: ICMAI application pages, the Evaluated Answer Script Retention Policy and the December 2026 timetable; days counted by Gradehunt with the result date as day 0.
You get 21 days for the copy and 30 for verification, so decide on the copy in the first three weeks after the result.
What does verification of marks actually check?
Verification is a clerical recheck. ICMAI re-adds your marks and checks the script for any answer that nobody examined. It does not re-evaluate what you wrote.
Two rules on ICMAI's page matter for the next attempt. First, ICMAI asks you to submit the exam form for the coming exam on time without waiting for the verification result. Second, if verification turns you into a pass case, ICMAI refunds the exam fee you paid for the next attempt along with the verification fee for the changed paper.
I tell students to apply for verification when a paper is 1 to 3 marks short of 40, or when the group aggregate is just below 50%. That is where a totalling slip or an unmarked answer can change the result.
Verification catches addition errors and unmarked answers. It never re-marks an answer you think was under-valued.
How do you apply for verification and a certified copy?
- On icmai.in, go to Students, then Examination, then Post Exam.
- Choose Procedure for Verification of Answer Papers or Procedure for Obtaining Certified Photocopy of Answer Scripts.
- Enter your current registration number, roll number, full name and course.
- Tick the papers you want, pay the fee and keep the receipt.
- Track the outcome through the Verification Result link on the same page.
Both services are online forms on examicmai.in that need your registration number, roll number and the papers you want.
Is inspection of the answer book possible at ICMAI?
Not as a portal service. The route is the Right to Information Act, 2005; the Supreme Court held in CBSE v Aditya Bandopadhyay (2011) that an evaluated answer book is information under that Act. ICMAI's RTI procedure lists inspection of records as free for the first hour and Rs 5 for each 15 minutes after that, and Rs 2 a page for copies. You write to the Public Information Officer for examination matters at CMA Bhawan, 12 Sudder Street, Kolkata, with the Rs 10 application fee.
Timing matters more than cost. ICMAI's retention policy, in force from the December 2024 term, keeps the original hard copy for 60 days from the result and a soft copy for one year. After day 60 only the soft copy is left, and after a year there may be nothing to inspect.
RTI is the only route to inspect a CMA answer book, and it has to be used within the 60-day and one-year retention limits.
What does a full group cost, and is it worth it?
Each CMA Inter group has four papers, and so does each Final group. Using ICMAI's per-paper fees, this is what a whole group costs:
- Verification only: Rs 1,000 for one group, Rs 2,000 for both groups.
- Certified copy only: Rs 2,000 for one group, Rs 4,000 for both groups.
- Both services: Rs 3,000 for one group, Rs 6,000 for both groups.
For comparison, the December 2026 exam fee at inland centres is Rs 1,500 for one Inter group and Rs 1,800 for one Final group. Copies of a full group cost more than writing that group again. Source: ICMAI fees above and the December 2026 timetable, totals worked out by Gradehunt.
Buy copies selectively: the paper you failed, plus one you passed comfortably, so you can compare how you wrote in each.
A full group of copies costs Rs 2,000, so pick the papers that will change how you prepare.
What to do with the certified copy once it arrives
Put the copy next to ICMAI's suggested answers for that term, which our page on CMA question papers and suggested answers links to, and go question by question. Mark the answers that lost marks for missing working notes, and the ones you left half done.
Then check where you stand. Our post on CMA Inter passing marks explains the 40% and 50% rules and how exemption carries forward, and the CMA Final exemption guide covers the 60% rule for Final papers.
If you want someone else to read the copy, Gradehunt's CMA certified copy evaluation checks it against ICMAI's suggested answers and returns comments on each question within 48 hours of upload. CMA Inter copies are checked by ex-examiners and CMA Final copies by CMA professionals. Only ICMAI decides your marks; our check is for your own preparation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1.What is the fee for verification of marks in CMA?
Rs 250 per paper, applied for within 30 days of the result. A student checking all four papers of Inter Group I pays Rs 1,000. ICMAI refunds the fee for any paper where a totalling mistake or an unexamined answer is found.
Q2.What is the last date for an ICMAI certified copy?
21 days from the date the result is declared. For the June 2026 term, with the result on 5 August 2026, that was 26 August 2026. If the December 2026 result comes on 5 February 2027, the last day will be 26 February 2027.
Q3.Does ICMAI re-evaluate answers during verification?
No. Verification checks only the totalling and whether any answer was left unexamined. A student who thinks a 6-mark answer deserved 9 will not get it re-marked through verification.
Q4.Can I apply for verification and a certified copy together?
Yes. You can apply for both, but ICMAI releases the photocopy only after verification is complete. If you want the copy quickly for revision, keep that delay in mind before you add verification.
Q5.Should I fill the next exam form while verification is pending?
Yes. ICMAI asks students to submit the exam form for the coming term on time. If verification changes your result to a pass, ICMAI refunds that exam fee automatically along with the verification fee for the changed paper.
Q6.Can I inspect my CMA answer book?
Only through an RTI request to ICMAI's Public Information Officer for examination matters in Kolkata. Inspection is free for the first hour. File it well inside 60 days of the result if you want the original hard copy, since ICMAI keeps only a soft copy after that.
