Group I

The May 2024 results show the candidates performing significantly better than previous attempts, especially in Group II, where the pass percentage was relatively high and may indicate a better exam strategy, improved study material, or simply because exam paper difficulty had changed.

The November 2023 session was notably lower than earlier sessions, which may relate to several reasons, e.g., difficulty of the exam, candidates’ timing issues, and/or possibly syllabus coverage.

A review of previous years provides us with a record of CA Final pass percentages, which are, for the most part, erratic (and often don’t move in a consistent direction), typically affected by changes to syllabus and marking scheme, as well as and urgency of the batch.

Overall Insights

It cannot be stressed enough how competitive the CA Final exam is and how consecutively low the pass rate has been.

In May 2024, we saw an uptick in the pass percentages which could mean it's a better paper or that there are better candidates.

Pass percentages in Group II still remain considerably higher than Group I too.

Ultimately, passing the CA Final is about Preparation, Analysis, and Control of time.

By now, you would have seen that the ICAI CA Final examination remains one of the toughest exams in the country, and the inconsistently low to moderate pass percentages demonstrate how challenging this exam remains.

Therefore, candidates must remain updated on the examination pattern, assess their study methods, and make necessary adjustments. It is beneficial to understand how previous pass results can be inferred to help guide aspiring CAs to eventually clear the CA Final and earn the valuable CA designation.
